News release

Future Pensions Act postponed half a year

19 October 2022

Minister Schouten expects that, if all goes according to plan, the Future Pensions Act will take effect July 1, 2023.

The intention was for the new pension rules to take effect Jan. 1, 2023. However, treatment in the Lower House requires more time. And after treatment in the Lower House, the Senate also still has to consider the new law. Minister Schouten expects that, if all goes according to plan, the Future Pensions Act will take effect on July 1, 2023.

After that, much still needs to be worked out and it will take a few more years before the new rules are translated into a new pension plan for you. In the meantime, you can also read the latest information about the new pension rules and your pension plan on our website and in our digital newsletter. For now, the deadline by which pension plans must comply with the new rules remains unchanged: Jan. 1, 2027.

What does this mean for your pension right now?

For now, nothing will change in the pension plan. Your pension accrual and pension benefits will continue to be administered according to the current scheme.
