Month of love

13 February 2023

It's February, the month of love. Did you know that love can affect your retirement? For this reason, this month we like to dwell on the topic of love and retirement. We reflect on the good sides and not-so-good sides of love.

Marriage, registered partnership and cohabitation

Are you married or in a registered partnership? Then you do not need to take any action. The municipality automatically passes this information on to us.

In addition to your old-age pension, you also accrue a partner's pension and an orphan's pension. If you die, your partner is entitled to a partner's pension. Your children are entitled to an orphan's pension under certain conditions.

Have you started living together or will you be doing so soon? Then your partner is eligible for a partner's pension under certain conditions. For example, you must have entered into a notarial cohabitation contract.

Family expansion

We can imagine that you would also like to know how things are arranged within your pension for your child(ren). In our pension plan, children are co-insured for orphan's pension under certain conditions. You do not have to register your children for this.

Check MyIFFPension under 'My dependants' to see what your children will receive in the event of your passing away.

Partner's pension

In addition to your old-age pension, you also accrue a partner's pension. If you die, your partner is entitled to a partner's pension. This is the case if you:

  • Are married
  • Entered into a registered partnership
  • Have a notarial cohabitation contract (your relationship was established before the retirement date and your partner is registered with the pension fund)
